Painting Stories #6

What I got:

Through the darkening sky, she could see the shifting twinkle of the stars clearer than any in her realm. They shown like glitter reflected by the sun as it dipped beneath the horizon and it reminded her of the music festivals in Bethlehem and the Karmiel Dancers. The colors were vibrant and the scent of the air was heavy with sweet spice. That night, when she was fourteen, she received her first kiss. The next morning, she and her mother fled the country.

Lovely and evocative!

My head is in a weird place so here:

Cindy looked up at the backdrop and nodded. The painting was perfect. The stage was ready for dress rehearsals, and "Maria" would be twirling through singing off-key about the hills being alive in a couple of hours. Cindy knew that she was too good at theater tech for the backwaters of community and youth theater, but the pay was regular and the stress was low. One day, she'd migrate back into movies and broadway, but for now, Indiana would do.

Here's mine :)

Tired. Aching. Breathless. It has been a long journey but I have finally reach the top. Beneath me, a long ways down, awaits a rushing path. A path that trickles from starvation, a path that floods with vengence. But today, below me lies a path to freedom. A path to safe haven. A path to a new life. And just over the horizon a glorious light beacons me. "Hurry, not much further to go. To safety. To freedom. To life."
