Painting Stories #17

I have no excuses, except to say..."procrastination is a helluva drug."

Warning, this image is pretty disturbing and was taken from here.

What I got (part of the WIP):

It begins with only the faint echo of the willow branches splintering in the gusts. Small leaves swirl on the wind and fall into the cave opening, still, like the creature, on the damp floor. Then, the formless figure convulses, pulses into a thin outline— bone, then muscle, blood and muck— until It stretches fingers and limbs, pumps blood, expels an awkward wheeze. Without a backward glance at the Master, or the darkened ground that was its bedrock, It traverses time, space and enters Man's dominion.

Love it love it love it. Creepy appeals today, and you do it so well.

He stands back from the canvas and sighs in release.
He has a good life. Comfortable home, lovely wife, two beautiful cherubic children. He takes great pleasure in the blushing beauty of his wife’s loving gaze, the giggles of his children, the satisfaction of a happy home and a good life.
But deep in the night, worries curdle and scream through him, images of ghastly death and torturous pain. Trauma from a childhood he did everything to forget, and past lives that whispered the secrets of dark magicks that should never exist in the world again. So he creeps from his warm bed and into the cold shadows of the house, up the dusty staircase to the garret on the third floor that has three different locks to defeat clever children and a curious, concerned wife.
And he paints.
Tonight, death visits him with a lipless grin and eyes that stare forever into the void, promising him everything if he enters into her power. Wiggling cold creatures that speak of decay gather around her, frozen, waiting for his response. Once the image is on the canvas, out of the confines of his head, he can draw breathe once again, and feel the life pulsing in the home he’s made.
He takes the canvas to the fireplace, and takes a poker to stir up the flames. The image burns with blue-purple fire, and is gone.
